Letter To Readers

Hello, my name is Ca'Laijah Broadnax and I’m a freshmen at Carbondale Community High School and I’m a student in Mrs. Emily Hayes. She’s my English teacher and I was assigned to do a poetry book. I have six pages of poems that I would love you to read. These poems were based off poems we as a class had read. The name of this poem book was “Good Poems” by Garrison Keillor. Garrison Keillor is a good author of poetry.
My favorite poem that I wrote was “Love is in the air” by Ca’Laijah Broadnax. This poem was my favorite poem because it’s based off a true story that happened to me. Love in the air is poem that I had wrote a long time ago but didn’t really think about showing it to anyone. I have had multiple comments on this poem. Love in the air is a poem about a young man and lady having love at first site. The young lady is in love with the young man as soon as they meet each other.
My least favorite poem was “Let’s Be Different” by Ca’Laijah Broadnax. This poem was my least favorite because I really didn’t enjoy writing a poem about my uncle or should I say music. I love to hear music but some of the music I listen to is not what others listen to or admire. Writing a poem about music was not that interesting to me because it was just something I put together but really worked hard on.
There are plenty of things I have learned during poetry this unit. Some of the things I have learned are when you are writing poetry you don’t always have to rhyme. Poetry is gift for some people and not so for others. I’m not really that good at poetry but I still try my best to make it rhyme or put something together so it can come along and become a poetry reading. Poetry can sometimes be hard but not always when you’ve been doing it for a long time or just have the experience.
Wrting these poems in this book has been a pleasure. I never knew I could write poems until I wrote some of my own in my English classroom. Being a English student at Carbondale Community High School is not always the best. I try to be involved in many of activities but sometimes it just doesn’t work out. I finally wrote a book of my own. I looked at different poems in a book called “Good Poems” and that gave me the courage to write more and more each day. So now I can show everyone a book that I wrote.

Failure: It's Never To Late To Change

Being lost without anything,
No car, No home, No food,
Being lost without anyone to talk to,
No family, No friends, No counselor,
Being lost without knowing where,

Why be defeated by things that your lost without

Breakfast,
Eggs, sausage, pancakes,
That’s the
Beginning of a wonderful day,
Lunch,
Fruit, chex mix, juice,
The middle of your wonderful day,

Love Poem: Love Is In The Air

Him standing there,
Our eyes met,
Me standing there thinking,
Where am I at?
The love at first sight was not always true,
But just that one day I thought I needed,
To get in tune,
Love is fair,
Or is it just there?

Music Poem: Let's All Be Different

My uncle Lucien,
Was walking home,
With his friends one day,
They were singing these new songs,
Well, I heard these songs before and knew there were bad,
I tried my best not to get these songs stuck in my head but,
It didn’t just work,
So the next day when my uncle Lucien walked home,
He was singing different songs
